Why The Potty Queen Method™ Exists

 

Potty learning has never been new to me...

As a Nursery Principal, I supported cohort after cohort of toddlers each year, often around sixty children at a time, guiding them from a reliance on nappies to confident toileting independence, ready for school.

This practical work has always been part of early years education for me. What changed during COVID was not my experience or my method, but my reach. Families began coming to me from beyond the classroom and beyond the local community, and I noticed a pattern.

By the time many parents sought one-to-one support, potty learning had already become complicated. Withholding had set in. Confidence had dropped. Several attempts had already been made. And we know from research that repeated unsuccessful starts can make the process harder for children and parents alike.

My diary became filled with complex cases.

So I began to ask a different question...

What if families could be supported before potty struggles became entrenched? What if the foundations were laid properly the first time?

The Potty Queen Method™ was created to reach families earlier, to build capability from the start, and to reduce the need for intensive intervention later.

It exists to offer clarity before confusion, steady guidance before frustration, and support before struggles take hold.

Hello, I'm Lisa Sherrington Boyd, an early years educator, former nursery principal, and parenting guide with over 35 years of experience supporting babies, toddlers, and families.

My work is grounded in how children actually learn, not trends, quick fixes, or pressure-driven approaches.

Over decades in nurseries and classrooms, I have supported thousands of children through early development, guiding families with calm, clarity, and respect.

The Potty Queen Method™ was created from this real-world experience. It reflects the same principles used in high-quality early years environments: skill-building before expectation, predictable rhythms, clear language, and steady adult leadership.

Families always tell me they like my reassuring, practical approach. There is no judgement or rigid rules here, I offer guidance that feels steady, realistic, and deeply supportive.

My goal is simple:
